DIY Coloring a Greeting Card

 Have you noticed all the coloring books for adults that are so popular now? I understand coloring can be a great stress reliever, plus it is fun to do. I must confess when I was a kid I was awful at coloring. I just made a mess and never could stay in the lines. Maybe that’s why I became an abstract painter. The one exception has always been still life painting. I love painting them. As a child I admired a still life painting of peaches my grandmother had in her kitchen and my dream was to be able to paint like that. Vermeer’s paintings were also my love, but I digress. I decided that I would let my friends color their own greeting card that I created this year. Above is the card. If you feel so inclined to color it just right click on the image and save it to your computer and print it.

Halloween, Pumpkins and CitraSolv®

I love seeing all of the pumpkins displayed along the road side at Halloween time. It always brings back memories of an earlier time in my life, which I blogged about in 2009. You can read the story here http://maciearts.blogspot.com/search?q=pumpkins

I decided to create a pastel pencil drawing of pumpkins on CitraSolv® textured paper using the techniques described on page 118 in my Mix It Up eBook.  The CitraSolv® textured paper I chose seemed like the perfect Halloween background for the pumpkins. Lots of ghostly things lurking in the ink textures. What do you think?

I also recorded some clips on my iPhone as I worked, but I was not happy with the results. I still have a lot to learn about using an iPhone for videos.
