I have not been very hands-on creative the past couple of weeks. I am having some corporal tunnel issues from using my mouse too much with Photoshop. My other hand has also developed joint tenderness and pain. Strange, since my typing skills are so limited that I only use a couple of fingers to hunt and peck. Two of an artist’s worse nightmares; the loss of good vision (which I am still dealing with) and use of the hands.
The piece I am showing I created a few weeks ago. It is a mix of collage papers, created with CitraSolv and National Geographic pages. In addition, some computer-generated images, an image transfer done with CitraSolv, also acrylic paint and ink. Honestly, the actual piece looks better than this. As much as I use a camera and Photoshop, without proper lighting, I have not learned to duplicate the appearance of the real thing to my satisfaction.
I love the subtle colors, very beautiful! I too am dealing with vision problems and loss of motor function in my hands. It is horrible to grow old.
ReplyDeleteLovely composition...subtle colors and a 'feeling' that is calming...great job! Sure hope this joint thing is resolved...do you wear a brace of some sort? Yes, we all share these artists fears...sight and movement of hands.
ReplyDeleteI had carpal tunnel surgery here in our small town and it is perfect. Don't delay.
ReplyDeleteThe process you use with mixed media image and transfers has the same feel as wax, I know I have said this to you before. I am sorry you are dealing with health issues but this collage is wonderful.
ReplyDelete>Connie, Sorry to hear you are having the same issues. Yep, my golden years have turned to brass.
ReplyDelete>Mary Anne, thanks for the compliments. Sometimes I wear a brace, but it's more trouble than it's worth. I just grin and bear it then stop for awhile.
> Monica, surgery is last on my list. I haven't had much luck in that department. Bad knee replacement and poor cataract surgery.
> Robin, you are right, this does have a look of some wax techniques. Thanks for your kind words.
August tells me a story! Very lovely work Eva.. sorry to hear about your constraints.. but you sure are an inspiration for me.
ReplyDeleteThank you Padmaja. You are so kind. I'm happy that I can be an inspiration.
ReplyDeleteThis is wonderful Eva! Lovely composition and is thought provoking. I'm sorry to hear about your aches as I know how painful it can get. Take care and keep creating beautiful work!
ReplyDeleteThanks Carole. Yep, you get to my age and the only relief you get is complaining :O)
ReplyDeleteThis is a lovely and subtle piece Eva. The CitraSolve technique does help create some amazing effects.
ReplyDeleteI just noticed your previous post and pictures showing how art can go in any room. I agree and love really modern pieces in traditional settings.
Sorry to hear you are having health issues. Your comment that your golden years have turned to brass made me laugh. It shows that you still have your sense of humor in spite of problems.
Thank you Susanne. It doesn't have the vibrant colors that you use and that I prefer, but when I play with Citra Solv my color choices change. As for my sense of humor, that's about all that hasn't changed :O)
