Tea Ceremony 6.5" x 6.5" © Eva Macie
The ongoing disaster in a country that is near and dear to my heart, Japan, and the wonderful Japanese people have been on my mind. Looking through my Citra-Solv papers I discovered what I perceived to be a figure of a Geisha. With few added brush marks I was able to bring the ghostly image forward.

I captured this haunting image of these precious children from the NBC nightly News. I hope it will inspire you to donate at least $10. to your favorite organization that is helping these people. You can find them at this link HELP. On behalf of these wonderful people I thank you!
Beautiful image Eva. These Citra-Solve works are superb.
ReplyDeleteI have also been consumed with daily news out of Japan. Many fund raising events are happening here as well.
ReplyDeleteIs this new work created with a photograph you took? This style reminds me of the image transfers I use with encaustic.
Hi Stan! Nice to hear from you again. Thanks for the comment!I'm having fun with this process.
ReplyDeleteGood morning Robin,
ReplyDeleteGood to hear your community is helping out.The situation in Japan makes my drama drivel and puts everything in perspective.
No, there was no other image used. The Geisha was something my mind saw in the ink pattern. I just enhanced it in Photoshop by adding tone around her and adding hair. If you look at the page longer you can faintly see the original NG picture of a woman's head that covers the page. The left eye is in the Geisha's Obi. I did not see her until I finished my creation.Glad I didn't.
Eva...
ReplyDeletevery nice work!!
I like it alot, I think Japan is on alot of minds these days
Tea Ceremony is wonderful. The people of Japan are very much on my mind--unbelievable tragedies; one after another.
ReplyDeleteHi Eva--Thanks for hitting the follow on my site!
ReplyDeleteYour work is just incredible. I couldn't hit your follow button fast enough. I've never heard of citra-solve transfers. Am I correct in calling them transfers--from magazine pictures? You're rocking my world. How do I find out how to do this? Very cool technique. Wonderful work! I'll be studying your site often. \\///\
Thanks William for the comments and ditto on following. You can see how to do this technique on YouTube at http://youtu.be/w7dtxM8FgQY. The hard part is finding the Citra-Solv locally, but you can buy it at Amazon. There is a link in my blog post, click on Citra-Solv. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteYou're amazing. Still got it kiddo.
ReplyDeleteThanks Doug. I go for my first cataract surgery Thursday. Curious how it will effect my art.
ReplyDeletethank you for creating such haunting imagery at a time when words seem so inadequate for the Japanese people
ReplyDeleteIt was my pleasure as I lived there as a young girl and my heart and soul remembers Japan as it was many years ago.Thank you for your comments.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThank you Karen!
ReplyDeleteHi Eva,

I would love to be able to share it on our Facebook page - I think others would really be inspired by your piece. If that would be ok, would you please email me at mzeitler@citra-solv.com Hope to hear from you! Melissa
Hi Melissa, Thanks for the invite. I would be happy to let you display "Tea Ceremony" on your Facebook blog. I am totally hooked on Citra-Solv as an art tool. I have been working on lots of ideas hopefully to teach an online class or write a booklet.
ReplyDeleteReminds me of Klimt with its bold use of gold and decorative elements. Love the glowing colors and beautiful textures.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Shelley!
