'Wanderer' ©Eva Macie
The comforting sound of pots and pans rattling in the kitchen makes me proud of some of my accomplishments in life. This one is my son, John Allan, who is living with me now. He is a trained chef and is busy making vegetarian lasagna from scratch. I mean pasta and all! The sink is full of freshly wash vegetables that he bought at the farmers market and the counter is heaped with all sorts of goodies and a pasta machine.
The reason for all of this wonderful prep is that my grandson is coming for a visit. Branden has been interning at a Buddhist meditation retreat. We thought he would bring a friend along, but there has been a change of plans. After a few days in Atlanta, Branden will be on his way to work at an organic farm in Tennessee. He really has become a wanderer. I hope he finds the fulfillment that he is looking for. I created the above digital college from one of my Citra-Solv pages and I thought it was a fitting illustration for the current situation.
I love this piece! The texture look is amazing. Not all who wander are lost! Best wishes
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your comforting words. Although I know what you say is true, I still think of Branden as a little boy and my over protective nature comes out :o)
ReplyDeleteLOVE how you find figures in the most creative places. Good luck to your wandering grandson, and how fortunate that you get to enjoy the rewards of your son's cooking skills. How was dinner?
ReplyDeleteThanks Robin. I'm still waiting as he's still cooking :o)
ReplyDeleteGreat accomplishments--kids, grandkids, art, and a clean white sink! I love The Wanderer--I see many things in it.

ReplyDeleteBetter than Klimpt! I've tried something "like" Citrasolv... no good results so far! Without your blog I'd not ever have heard of it. Thank you!

ReplyDeleteGreat piece again Eva. I will have to look into CitraSolv as it sounds like you can do really interesting things with it.
ReplyDeleteHaving been a vegetarian for 30 years I always like to cook from scratch and the food is just so much better. No wonder the lasagne was the best you have ever eaten.
>Padmaja, you are so right They are wonderful experiences.Thank you!
ReplyDelete>Susanne, to be honest I think any textured background is a good way to start a digital collage, but the Citra-Solv papers have a quality that inspires me. Thanks for your comments.
Beautiful and interesting collage! And I love your story of your kids. Pasta from scratch! my goodness.
ReplyDeleteThank you Pattio. Yes, it was spinach pasta, Yum!
ReplyDeleteDear Eva,
ReplyDeleteI hope you are doing better since your eye surgery.
I find your recent art very interesting, hence the phone call which I have not forgotten. I have been looking at your previous posts to learn more about this type of collage work. The samples using Citra-Solve I wish were a little bigger to be able to study these closer.
Warmest regards,
Egmont
Hi Egmont. I guess I mislead everyone as I went to the eye surgeon for my evaluation
ReplyDeleteSurgery on the right eye is set for Mar 24th.the left one Apr 22nd. I've had to have lab work and other preparations. It's been pretty stressful just getting ready!
Sorry about the size. I try to make them so they don't take so long to load. The actual image isn't very large either. aprox. 6"x10"
Beautiful...Klimt inspired for sure.
ReplyDeleteThanks Cory, I love Klimt :O)
