Routine Interrupted

                                             Above Below                                                          Eva Macie©

Deepak Chopra was on the ‘CBS This Morning’ show talking about internet addiction. I think I have found a cure for it, schedule a lot of appointments and unless you have an IPad or Smart Phone or other similar devices (which I don’t), you won’t have time, like me, to be on the internet. It seems forever since I last posted. All the demanding schedules and other things have taken over my life. I rarely go down to my studio and when I do, I find settling down to paint very difficult. The last piece I worked on, I manage to finish, only because I started it months ago. It is the above painting and is layered acrylic with lots of texture, stenciling and scumbling The painting is on a 12”x12” studio wrapped canvas.

  1. It's a terrible thing in my opinion, that people can do everything with technology and less with human face-to-face interaction... but I am also guilty of it. Americans have always been focused on productivity and efficiency, something being wired supports. I have to schedule my painting time or else everything else gets in the way. The textures in Above Below are so interesting, (at first I thought it was citra solv). I am into yellows lately.

  3. Beautiful painting Eva!
Internet addiction has replaced the tv addiction. Neither of which is a good alternative to face to face.
I hope you get more time in your studio to be creative. Take care.

  5. I agree Carole. Fortunately, except for the morning news, I rarely watch TV in the day time. I must admit I'm hooked on nighttime creativity challenge shows like Project Runway, Work Of Art and some PBS Shows. Thanks for commenting.

  8. I know exactly what you mean Eva. I have had the same problem. It's so hard to get started again and the last month has been very disruptive one way and another. Like you my blog posts have been non existent and my art too. I'm sure you will get the creative urge and be back at it soon ... I'm hoping for the same thing for myself too!

  9. Hi Susanne, I am surprised to hear that you can relate to my situation. For some reason I always thought of you as a full speed ahead in your studio and doing shows at all times. Not very realistic on my part as we all need down time to recharge and evaluate don't we? Let's know that this will pass for both of us :O)

  10. Be gentle with yourself. I find that there is an ebb and flow to creativity. Maybe it needs some sustenance. Enjoy all you do. Inspiration can hit when you least expect it.

    Love your textural piece.

    Be well

  14. Thank you Mary Ann. I agree about taking a break now and then. I'm still scheduled up to my eye balls with doctor appointments, etc., but hopefully it will slow down soon.
