Shirley Trevena is
one of my favorite contemporary watercolorists. I love the way she fractures
and breaks up the space in some of her still life paintings. Since I am learning to paint digital watercolors using Photoshop, I thought I would play with one of my collages. I have really enjoyed making these collages. I recently went to some of the home department stores near me to photograph their home decor displays. I use parts of the images as collages. I am planning to paint some of them with digital watercolor. I will print
out my favorites on large page labels that I buy from Online Labels and put them in a composition book that I bought at the Dollar Tree store. I love these
cheap composition books, because there are 100 pages I can fill without worrying
about ruining an expensive journal. If I want to paint in it I usually glue a couple of pages together so they will hold up to the paint. However, I rather paint on my computer and use the Online Labels, which I blogged
about earlier. No messy glue to fool with or paint to clean up.
Looks like an original, old fashioned painted watercolor - are you saying this is digital? if it is, it's amazing (it's amazing regardless of medium!)
ReplyDeleteHi Robin. Thank you so much.I am enjoying painting digitally. No mess and I can correct my mistakes on the fly.
DeleteI am so sorry I didn't see your comment until today.I depended on Blogger to notify me as I get so much spam. I guess I needed to check a box for them to do so.
I love the looseness of this painting, Eva! It says so much and the limited palette along with the design makes it really pleasing.
ReplyDeleteThank you Katharine. Nice to see you here again. As I told Robin I am so sorry I didn't see your comment until today. My bad I guess:(
DeleteInteresting to hear you love Shirley Trevena. I used to see quite a lot of her work in exhibitions when I lived in the UK. I actually got to see her demonstrating too at an art fair show. She has amazing bright red dyed hair that looks very unusual and artsy! Her work is quite beautiful and I love some of the unfinished areas she leaves in her work.
ReplyDeleteI agree Suzanne, Shirley's work is beautiful I envy you that you were able to see her in person. I am such a fan!
DeleteEva, this is so fine. No wonder, this is a fine art.
